The Afghan villager who risked his life to save a U.S. Navy SEAL and was made famous in last year’s Lone Survivor claims he was sent back to his country to face grave danger from the Taliban. Mohammad Gulab tells Vocativ that he was brought to the U.S. to help promote the film, and Marcus Luttrell, the Navy SEAL he rescued from a Taliban ambush in 2005, promised to help him. Universal Studios brought him to America for the movie’s premiere, and Gulab hoped to get a green card, but he was put back on a plane to Afghanistan. Since the movie has gained buzz, he says the Taliban has made multiple attempts on his life, one as recently as last week. “My life is in worse danger than ever,” he said.
