Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards requested a $2 billion bailout during a trip to Washington D.C. on Friday for the increased projected costs of repairing the state after recent disastrous flooding. The estimated cost of damages could hit as high as $15 billion. “Simply put, we cannot recover without it,” Edwards told a House subcommittee hearing. President Obama and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have spent more than $660 million in public relief efforts so far.
