Ludwig Bemelmans' Madeline Takes New York (PHOTOS)

Her many fans may think of her living in an old Parisian house. But a new exhibit shows that Madeline’s character was actually inspired by its creator living in Manhattan, imbibing the city’s rebellious spirit.
