Two weeks after dramatic miniseries Madoff aired on ABC, its lead subject, convicted Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, submitted a laundry list of rebuttals to the film’s claims about his life. In an email to NBC News, the New York private investment banker serving a 150-year prison sentence claimed the Richard Dreyfuss-starring film is a “mischaracterization” of events. “I have NEVER slapped my son Mark,” Madoff wrote. “My wife was never an officer in my Investment firm.” Madoff also disputed the portrayal of his brother Peter as a “pathetic soul,” but would not dispute the underlying theme: Yes I made a disasterous [sic] business that caused unforgiveable [sic] pain... and will continue to do everything in my power to recover their lost investment principal.”
