MAGA erupted on Rep. Jasmine Crockett Tuesday after a clip went viral of the Texas Democrat appearing to mock the disability of her state’s Republican governor.
Crockett, 43, referred to the wheelchair-bound Greg Abbott as “governor hot wheels” on stage Saturday at a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles.
“Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there,” Crockett said. “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a-- mess, honey.”

The comment did not appear to be part of Crockett’s prepared remarks and she claims to have not meant it as a disability dig. Many in the crowd applauded and cheered.
The remark was not embraced as kindly on social media, however, where Crockett was condemned by Republicans and reporters alike. The Republican Rep. Randy Weber, of Texas, went as far as announcing he will motion to have Crockett censured by Congress, he told Fox News.
“The story of our great governor of Texas is one of unwavering resilience and perseverance,” he said. “Meanwhile, the actions of Jasmine Crockett—stooping to vile levels of discrimination and despicable political attacks—are nothing short of reprehensible.”
Abbott has been in a wheelchair since July 1984 when, at 26, an oak tree cracked and fell on his back while he jogged on a neighborhood sidewalk in Houston. Much of his vertebrae was crushed and he was left paralyzed from the waist down.
The MAGA world came out en masse Tuesday to condemn Crockett’s remark about one of its most Trump-friendly governors.
“This woman is trash,” TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk posted on X, referring to Crockett.
The “Dark MAGA” man Scott Presler called Crockett “wicked.”
“I don’t use this word often, but Jasmine Crockett truly is wicked,” he said. “To call Greg Abbott ‘Governor Hot Wheels’ is cruel, contemptible & speaks to your lack of character... If Jasmine Crockett represents the democrat (sic) party, I want nothing to do with democrats. Despicable.”
Crockett addressed the backlash in a statement Tuesday afternoon, but did not apologize. Instead, she claimed her comment had been misinterpreted.
“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” she said. “Literally, the next line I said was that he was a “Hot A-- Mess,” referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged.”
Abbott, 67, has not addressed Crockett’s remark or her explanation.
