Malala Yousafzai was discharged from a British hospital on Thursday in order to spend time recovering at home with her family. The 15-year-old girls’ education advocate was shot in the head by the Taliban in October 2012 and was taken to Britain for treatment. Though she will be readmitted to the hospital in late January or early February for reconstructive surgery on her skull, doctors decided that she had made enough progress to spend some time at home. A spokesman for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham said, “Following discussions with Malala and her medical team, we decided that she would benefit from being at home with her parents and two brothers.”
