Mall Siege in Kenya Officially Over

After a three-day siege that left more than 70 people dead, the terrorist attack on a Nairobi mall is over. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that security forces have taken control of all three floors of the mall, killing five of the al Qaeda–linked attackers and taking 11 into custody. There have been reports that some of the attackers are Americans and one is a British woman, but they haven’t been confirmed. Kenyatta said several floors collapsed during the assault, and three bodies remain in the rubble. “Fellow Kenyans, we have been badly hurt and feel great pain and loss, but we have been brave, united, and strong,” Kenyatta said. “Kenya has stared down great evil and triumphed.”
