Despite the flurry of press, Charles Manson never actually tied the knot after receiving a marriage license—and he most likely won’t be able to before it expires. A California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesperson confirmed the license was set to expire Thursday, and inmates can only wed on weekends. Manson’s fiancé, Afton Elaine Burton, better known as “Star,” reportedly told James McGrath, a New York City photo agency editor, that she plans to apply for another license and wed the octogenarian convicted serial killer. Manson seemed iffy about the wedding for a while, telling Rolling Stone in 2013 of the rumored wedding plans “That’s a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That’s trash. We’re just playing that for public consumption.”
