Marie Antoinette's Perfume is Back

Heaven Scents

Mon dieu! The great French Queen's signature scent has been recreated and is now available for $1,700 a bottle.

Great news: now you, too, can capture the fragrance of the woman our ancestors all loved to hate, Marie Antoinette. French perfumer Francis Kurkdjian created a replica of the late great Queen of France’s signature scent, fittingly full of over-the-top florals and an updated musky note, based on documents recovered by Elizabeth de Feydeau, author of A Scented Palace: The Secret History of Marie-Antoinette’s Perfumer. Ornately packaged, Le Sillage de la Reine—translated means “the wake of the queen”—comes at the low price of just $1,708. Can’t we just watch the Sofia Coppola movie to pay homage instead?
