President Obama presented the Medal of Honor to Dakota Meyer on Thursday. Meyer saved the lives of 36 soldiers on Sept. 8, 2009, while serving in Afghanistan. While finalizing arrangements for the ceremony, Meyer asked if he could have a beer with President Obama—a request that was granted Wednesday outside the Oval Office. During Thursday's service, Obama called Meyer “the best of a generation that has served with distinction through a decade of war.”
