Gunmen attacked a prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo Wednesday, freeing nearly 1,000 prisoners. The masked attackers sought to break out the former commander of the Mai Mai militia, Gedeon Kyungu Mutanga. While police have caught 152 of the escaped prisoners, Mutanga is still on the loose. Prison breaks are common in Congo: last year 200 prisoners escaped from jails.
