John McCain (R-AZ) on Thursday announced he will vote in favor of the Senate GOP’s tax overhaul bill, a major win for Republican leadership. “I believe this legislation, though far from perfect, would enhance American competitiveness, boost the economy, and provide long overdue tax relief for middle class families,” McCain said in a statement. The Arizona senator had been tight-lipped about the legislation, fueling speculation that he could vote against the bill in the same way that he tanked the Obamacare repeal bill over the summer. The Senate’s tax legislation would cut the corporate rate to 20 percent, slash individual rates, and repeal the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate.
