McDonald's Recall, Shrek Glass Recall

Feds say they contain cadmium.

McDonald’s may be even worse for your health than previously thought. The fast-food giant will recall around 12 million Shrek-themed drinking glasses after federal regulators discovered they contained cadmium, a potential carcinogen after long-term exposure. The investigation was set in motion by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA), who received an anonymous tip. "Our children's health should not depend on the consciences of anonymous sources," she said. "Although McDonald's did the right thing by recalling these products, we need stronger testing standards to ensure that all children's products are proven safe before they hit the shelves.” Most recently, Walmart recalled two lines of children’s jewelry because they also contained dangerous levels of cadmium.
