President Obama posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor to two World War I veterans who had previously been overlooked for the honor because of their black and Jewish heritage. "It has taken a long time for Henry Johnson and William Shemin to receive the recognition they deserve," Obama said. "It's never too late to say thank you." Both Johnson and Shemim were seriously wounded during the war and are said to have saved many lives on the battlefield.
