After editing Newsweek.

Jon Meacham, who wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography of President Andrew Jackson, will be an executive vice president at the Random House Publishing Group following his departure from Newsweek’s offices this summer. Meacham published American Lion in 2008 through Random House and will be editing non-fiction works focused on history and religion. The 41-year-old is one of several new hires at Random House, including Ruth Reichl from Gourmet.
