Meme of the Week: Mitt’s Amercia App Sparks Imitations (Photos)

Meme of the Week

Last week, Mitt Romney released his newest campaign tactic: a smartphone app that allows users to upload their own pictures onto ‘I’m With Mitt’ text. Unfortunately for Mitt there was a small spell-check error: one of the premade layouts misspelled the name of the country that the Republican contender is hoping to lead. The template, reading ‘A Better Amercia,’ was quickly noticed and spread across the Internet. The mistake was soon corrected by the Romney camp, but not before scathing versions were posted on Twitter and the app had even inspired its own Tumblr, #Facepalm.

Misspelling America is a Homer Simpson–level mistake, but even the cartoon star might be embarrassed by such a juvenile gaffe. Another Simpsons-esque offering has Ralph, the show's notoriously dim-witted schoolboy, looking hopeful behind the promise of a better Amercia.
