Two more cases of the deadly new virus MERS have been identified by the World Health Organization, both in Italy. The victims, a 2-year-old girl and 42-year-old woman, allegedly caught the virus after coming in contact with another Italian who was diagnosed on May 28. All three are currently in stable condition. Symptoms of the virus—which has caused more than two dozen deaths—include fever, coughing, and progressive respiratory distress. The director of the World Health Organization called it a "threat to the entire world" last week. The origin of the virus remains unclear.
