The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Thursday night to advance to the National League Championship Series. Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom gave up six hits and three walks, but struck out seven and allowed only two earned runs in Game 5 of the National League Division Series. New York’s Daniel Murphy led the offense by going three for four, which included a go-ahead home run against Dodgers ace Zack Greinke in the top of the sixth. The Mets will face off against the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday.
