A 9-year-old girl has given birth in Mexico, police said Wednesday—and authorities are searching for the 17-year-old believed to be the baby’s father. Police spokesman Lino Gonzalez said the baby girl was born last week in a hospital in Guadalajara, and the mother and baby are both doing well. Gonzalez said the girl’s parents alerted police after the alleged father had not been seen around the neighborhood. The girl referred to the teenager as her boyfriend. Gonzalez said that if the 17-year-old is proven to be the father, he could face child-sex-abuse charges.
