Jose Luis Abarca, the former mayor of Iguana, Mexico, has been charged for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of 43 student teachers who are now feared to be dead. Abarca and an additional 44 people have been charged in the kidnapping of the students. It is the first time charges have been brought against Abarca, even though authorities have accused him and his wife of being the masterminds of the kidnapping back in October. The student teachers were allegedly abducted by police working hand in hand with local drug gangs. Abarca and his wife, Maria de los Angeles Pineda, were captured in Mexico City in November.
