Mexico is furious over the death of a 15-year-old boy who was shot dead by a U.S. Border Patrol agent for throwing rocks. The agent was attempting to detain some suspected illegal immigrants near downtown El Paso when the teenager, Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka, started hurling stones at him from the Mexico side of the Rio Grande. He was then shot in the head. Officials say the agent who killed the teen is on administrative leave. An angry banner protesting the death has been draped across the bridge at the site of the shooting, and Tuesday Mexican President Felipe Calderon said he would fight for the rights of Mexican migrants. Hernandez’s family is pleading for justice. Mexican officials have suggested that Hernandez was shot inside the Mexican border, a violation of border control rules; Americans dispute that claim.
