Military Stages Coup in Burkina Faso

Presidential guard officers staged a coup in the western African nation of Burkina Faso on Thursday, appointing an ally of a former leader in his place. The country’s interim president and prime minister were detained during a cabinet meeting Wednesday. Presidential guard forces also shot dead at least 10 people during protests in the capital.
