Diata Crockett, a 34-year-old Missouri man who led police on an extensive manhunt, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his 8-month-old son. He’s also been charged with armed criminal action, domestic assault, endangering a child, unlawful possession of a weapon, and unlawful use of a weapon. Investigators say the incident began when Crockett and his wife were fighting in a car and he reportedly hit her with a semi-automatic gun after she told him she wanted a divorce. As she left the vehicle, he allegedly fired a shot that killed the child.
