Instant replay will be expanded during the 2014 regular season and postseason, Major League Baseball’s clubs decided Thursday in a unanimous vote. Among the new aspects of the instant replay expansion, clubs will be allowed to show all replays on the ballpark scoreboard, whether or not the play has been reviewed; managers will be allowed to challenge at least one instant replay per game (but no more than two); and the umpire crew chief will be allowed to invoke instant replay on any call at the beginning of the seventh inning. “I am very pleased that instant replay will expand to include additional impactful plays,” said commissioner Bud Selig. “The new system will give managers valuable recourse in potentially game-changing situations.”
