Major League Baseball will not remove the late Shoeless Joe Jackson from its blacklist. Jackson and seven other members of the Chicago White Sox were banned from baseball after allegedly throwing the 1919 World Series, though a jury acquitted Jackson in 1921. Earlier this year, the curator of the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum in Greenville, South Carolina, wrote a letter to Commissioner Rob Manfred, asking him to let Jackson into the Hall of Fame. Manfred responded to the request in July, the Greenville News reported late Monday, saying he would not re-open the case. Manfred, however, does reportedly plan to decide on Pete Rose’s fate this year.
