The retired Florida police captain charged with shooting and killing a man at a movie theater in January was released from jail on Friday. Curtis Reeves Jr., 71, was released on a bail set at $150,000 and must now surrender firearms and remain at home except to go to church, the doctor’s office, or the grocery store. Reeves allegedly shot 43-year-old Chad Oulson, a husband and father, in the chest after he and Reeves argued over Oulson’s insistence on texting during movie previews. Reeves’ lawyers have claimed he acted in self-defense.
