Search warrant documents obtained by the Austin American-Statesman reveal that Haruka Weiser, 18, was a victim of sexual assault during her murder. The freshman dance student was found dead in early April after disappearing on campus for several days. Meechaiel Khalil Criner, a 17-year-old runaway, was later arrested in connection to the homicide. Police reportedly believe he strangled Weiser to death.
