And now for something completely different. Rupert Murdoch apologized on Monday for a cartoon that ran in London’s Sunday Times that depicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu building a bloody wall that trapped the bodies of Palestinians. On Twitter, Murdoch wrote that the artist who drew the cartoon “has never reflected the opinions of The Sunday Times. Nevertheless, we owe major apology for grotesque, offensive cartoon.” In Britain, fierce debate raged over the cartoon, which some Jewish activists likened to “the worst of anti-Semitic libel.” The cartoon ran on Sunday, Britain’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, although the artist said he “very much regrets” the timing of it.
