The Muslim Brotherhood announced today that it is withdrawing from an advisory council created by Egypt’s interim military leaders, accusing the military of trying to interfere with the country’s new Constitution. The Muslim Brotherhood’s political party is currently leading in the Egyptian parliamentary elections. A member of the military council admitted to a group of journalists that it planned to place military members in major cabinet roles in order to limit the likely Islamist majority’s influence in parliament.
