Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood wants to give everyone a seat at the table, newly elected party leader Saad al-Katani said in an interview meant to assuage fears over his group’s influence. The Islamist party has gained increasing prominence in post-Mubarak Egypt over the past year, with former member Mohamed Morsi winning the presidency and the party securing a leading role in Parliament. While many have expressed unease at the Islamist group’s new power, al-Katani said he would seek alliances with other parties to create an inclusive majority in the country’s ruling body.
