N. Korea Sinking Tops Clinton Agenda

Talking Points

As she arrives in Asia.

With tension rising in the Far East, Hillary Clinton arrived in Japan Friday as part of a week-long visit that will also take her to South Korea and China, where she will be accompanied by more than 200 U.S. officials. Top of her list will be the brewing dispute on the Korean peninsula after South Korea accused its neighbor to the north of deliberately sinking one of its warships in March. North Korea has so far denied any allegations and China, its only ally in the region, has urged restraint without criticizing them. Clinton is also scheduled to meet with Japanese Minister Yukio Hatoyama who called the sinking "unforgivable, an unbelievable act." They will primarily discuss the future of the American base on Okinawa, which Japan has repeatedly sought to relocate.
