America’s symbolic spiritual center, the National Cathedral, hosted its first-ever Muslim-led prayers on Friday, a gesture meant to heal the world’s religious rifts, according to organizers. “This is a dramatic moment in the world and in Muslim-Christian relations,” said the South African ambassador to the U.S. who helped organize the event, Ebrahim Rasool. “This needs to be a world in which all are free to believe and practicee and in which we avoid bigotry, Islamaphobia, racism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Christianity and to embrace our humanity nd to embrace faith.”
