National Guard Goes to Lead-Poisoned Flint

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder activated the state’s National Guard to help with drinking-water distribution in the city of Flint’s escalating crisis. Last month, Flint’s mayor declared a state of emergency over the worsening quality of its water supply over rising lead levels in flows from the corrosive Flint River, the source that was switched to in 2014 as a cost-cutting measure. The state has also asked for support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
