One of the students shot during a brawl at Northern Arizona University early Friday morning passed along an impassioned plea to the court to keep the shooting suspect in custody. “He killed my best friend and I watched him die in front of me,” Nicholas Piring said in a statement read in the courtroom Friday. “He did this for no reason and he needs to stay in custody.” Freshman Steven Jones is charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault. The judge set a $2 million cash-only bond.
