U.S. Navy SEAL trainee James Derek Lovelace, 21, died last week after passing out in a military training pool, NBC News reported Tuesday. The young sailor was reportedly undergoing basic underwater demolition/SEAL training—considered one of the most challenging regimens—when he was withdrawn from the exercise, due to difficulties, and lost consciousness near the edge of the pool. Attempts at rescuscitation and first aid failed and Lovelace was pronounced dead at a local California hospital.
