Our neural pathways have become accustomed to David Waddell’s sensory input patterns. The town councilman in Indian Trail, North Carolina, resigned in a letter written in Klingon, he told the Charlotte News-Observer on Thursday. “Folks don’t know what to think of me half the time,” Waddell said. So, he said, “I might as well have one last laugh.” The letter included a translation, which in English said, “Teach city constitution. I will return next time victory. Resignation occurs in 2014 the 31st of January. Perhaps today is a good day resign.” But Mayor Michael Alvarez wasn’t laughing. “It’s an embarrassment for Indian Trail,” he said. Please, sir, not in front of the Klingons.
