Gary Glasberg, the executive producer and showrunner of NCIS, died Wednesday in Los Angeles at the age of 50. A statement from CBS said he died in his sleep. Glasberg joined the popular show in 2009 and became showrunner in 2011. He also worked on several other shows, including The Mentalist, Crossing Jordan, and Bones. The cast of NCIS released a statement Wednesday mourning Glasberg’s death, saying “Gary was our rock, our cheerleader, our team captain.” “He inspired us with his leadership, his creative instincts, and keen insight. NCIS will not be the same without him, and each of us will miss his smiling face and unwavering humor, which lifted us every day,” the statement said. Glasberg leaves behind two sons and a wife of 20 years.
