New Species Found in Australia’s ‘Lost World’

It looks like these are some frogs that really like getting caught in the rain. The boulder-dwelling frog, which has sex in the rain, is one of three completely new species that scientists have discovered in Australia’s “Lost World” in Cape Melville. The other two species are a golden skink and a tail-leaf gecko, which herpetologist Patrick Couper called “the strangest new species to come across my desk in 26 years as a herpetologist.” The scientists who discovered the new species said they were shocked, especially since Australia is considered to be pretty known territory. There are a “host of other species” that may be new to science, the scientists said.
