New York Woman Indicted for Allegedly Attempting to Poison Husband With Antifreeze
THAT’S COLD
A New York woman was indicted Thursday for allegedly attempting three times to poison her husband with antifreeze, according to a press release from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Renee Burke has been charged with attempted murder and attempted assault, among other charges. Her alleged attempts began on Sept. 6, 2018, when her husband discarded a glass of wine because it tasted and smelled like chemicals. When the same thing happened with a glass of Pepsi four days later, the man contacted police, who advised him to set up surveillance cameras in his home. That’s how he allegedly saw Burke dumping antifreeze into a wine bottle on Sept. 12. After Burke was arrested, police tested beverages containers in the home and found they contained a compound in antifreeze—and later, they found a bottle of antifreeze inside the home. When police searched Burke’s phone, they found searches for “antifreeze with alcohol,” “what liquids for cars can kill a human,” and “can antifreeze kill s himan (sic),” authorities said.
