Newt Wishes Mitt Would ‘Stick to His Guns’

Mitt Romney may have walked back his comments on Palestine, but if he were Newt Gingrich he would have stuck to his guns. In fact, the former House speaker and presidential candidate did make similar comments earlier this week and doesn't feel the need to apologize for anything. At a Romney event in Arlington, Va., Monday, Gingrich responded to a question about Mitt's controversial comparison of the economic success of Israel versus Palestine, saying the disparity has a lot to do with culture and can be seen all over the world. "The United Nations camps have been terrorist training grounds," Gingrich said. "And I think that they're a disaster and have taught socialism. There is no private property, there is no future, there is no small business, there is no hope, there is no rule of law, and I think you have to start with that." Today Newt told CNN's Soledad O'Brien that he doesn't think Romney made a mistake in Israel and that he wishes "the elites of this country had the courage to look at the United Nations refugee camps and realize what an anti-human disaster those refugee camps are, how much they have been breeders of terrorism, how fundamentally wrong their design is and how much we've done a disservice to ... the Palestinians by allowing them to be subjected to that kind of government."
