NFL Concussion Deal Allowed to Go Ahead

FIRST DOWN

Players could see $765 million.

A Philadelphia judge Monday granted preliminary approval to the National Football League's $765 million settlement for former players seeking damages for concussion-related injuries. The NFL raised its previous $675 million cap on payouts last week to cover the complaints. The newest approved deal would compensate players based on age, seasons played, and post-career injuries linked to concussions. About 20,000 former players are eligible to file claims, and they will now be sent the agreement to decide whether to opt in, reject, or rewrite it.
