NFL Is Investigating Jameis Winston for Allegedly Groping Uber Driver

She says Tampa Bay quarterback grabbed her crotch when he requested they stop for food.

The NFL is investigating Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston for allegedly groping a female Uber driver in 2016, BuzzFeed News reported Friday. Kate, an Uber driver whose name was withheld by the news site, said Winston “behaved poorly” as soon as she picked him up from a party in Arizona at 2 a.m. She said he started shouting homophobic slurs at pedestrians and then grabbed her crotch when he requested that they stop for food. “I wasn’t just creeped out,” she said. “I was frozen ...I mean he's an NFL quarterback and I’m 5 ft 6. I’m not prepared for that. So I completely froze” She reported the incident to Uber soon after the drive. The alleged incident occurred nine months before Winston settled a civil suit brought by a woman who claimed he raped her while the two were students at Florida State University in 2012. The university later paid the woman $950,000 in another lawsuit settlement related to the alleged sexual assault.
