Things are about to go from bad to worse for residents of North Dakota. Even with the Souris River already set to break a flooding record this year, the Army Corps of Engineers says the waters will get even higher. Residents are upset about the latest revision, predicting that the crest of the flood will be about 9.5 feet higher than previously forecast, leaving Minot and other towns little time to prepare dikes and sandbags for a larger deluge. The Corps said they have no options for mitigating the rising water: upstream reservoirs are already at capacity. Officials ordered that some areas be evacuated Wednesday, displacing 11,000 people.
