Notre Dame University has promised to stop burning coal at its electric plant within five years in response to Pope Francis’s pleas on climate change. The university says it will reduce its carbon footprint by half over 15 years and invest $113 million in renewable energy. The university president is expected to attend a White House reception with Pope Francis this week.
