Director Army General Keith Alexander is planning to step down by spring, and Deputy Director John "Chris" Inglis will depart by the end of the year, according to U.S. officials who spoke to Reuters. The NSA has been rocked by massive document leaks by former contractor Edward Snowden, revealing widespread monitoring of telephone, e-mail, and social media accounts. Both men are leaving voluntarily, and the vacancies are seen as an opportunity for President Obama to revamp the leadership and public image of the NSA.
