Is New York’s gay marriage vote really going to be decided on Twitter? Republican State Senator Greg Ball is checking in on Facebook and Twitter to gauge whether or not he should vote in favor of legalizing gay marriage. Ball posted this statement on the networking sites: “Opening up the discussion! So, if you were me, how would you vote on gay marriage? Yes or No?” On Twitter, followers are posting overwhelmingly in favor of a yes vote, whereas, the response is split more evenly on Facebook. But Ball’s own Hudson Valley district has been receiving calls and letters with about 60 percent saying they are against gay marriage. New York’s state senate has been divided on gay marriage—so far, 29 Democrats and two Republicans have said they will vote in favor of the bill—and it is now one vote short of being approved.
