NY State Workers Hit Jackpot

It turns out the one winning ticket for the $319 million lottery jackpot was held by seven information technology workers in the New York State government. The winners work at the New York Department of Homes and Community Renewal and bought the ticket in an office pool. Once they claim their winnings, they have 60 days to decide whether to take the money in payments over 25 years or as a lump sum, which would give them $202.9 million before taxes, and $134 million after—or $19.1 million each.
