The New York Police Department has dramatically cut down on arrests since two of its own were murdered in cold blood. In the past two weeks, overall arrests have fallen 66 percent compared to the same period last year. During that same time, traffic tickets and summons for minor offenses have fallen a whopping 94 percent year-over-year. Police sources told the New York Post that the drop in activity was mostly fueled by safety concerns, but part of the motive was a slowdown to protest Mayor Bill de Blasio. “This is not a slowdown for slowdown’s sake. Cops are concerned, after the reaction from City Hall on the Garner case, about de Blasio not backing them,” said a source.
