The New York Police Department isn’t going to stand for Ted Cruz dragging them down with his anti-Islamic demagoguery. After the Republican presidential candidate called for increased patrolling and monitoring of Muslim-American neighborhoods, citing the abandoned Bloomberg-era cooperative surveillance of particular areas in the wake of deadly Brussels terror attacks, the NYPD responded with a firm dismissal. “Hey, @tedcruz are our nearly 1k Muslim officers a ‘threat’ too?” asked department spokesman J. Peter Donald on Twitter. “It’s hard to imagine a more incendiary, foolish statement.”
