NYT Guns for Larry Summers

In perhaps one of the least subtle editorials regarding a potential nominee in recent memory, the paper of record made it clear Tuesday that it opposes the nomination of the controversial former Treasury secretary and Harvard president Larry Summers to head the Federal Reserve. In his stead, the Times (along with a group of Democratic senators) believes current Fed vice chairwoman Janet Yellen would make the best choice. And what is Summers’s biggest sin? Summers and other Robert Rubin protégés have tried to steamroll women like Yellen in the past over regulating Wall Street—most notably Brooksley Born, Sheila Bair, and Elizabeth Warren.
